My invincible Grandma

I dunno how many times she has been at the brink of death but still she manages to scrape through. It's like it's true that they say when it's not your time it's just not la. She gave all of us a scare yesterday afternoon when her head suddenly bent forward when my aunt was feeding her with some broth. She had been unable to eat properly since her fall last weekend. But after that she was ok until yesterday. The doctor said chances was pulling through was slim...very slimher blood pressure was 60/40 and her heart neat on 40 times/min. The doc even said there was no point in sending her to the hospital. So there she laid at home on her bed looking frial and weak. We all thought this was it. The doc gave her 2 days.

Last evening when the doc came to check on my grandma again her pressure was up so that was good. He was surprised at the situation and commented that my grandma's mind was stronger than her body. That night he came again and her pressure went uo to abt 90/60. Todat she is well and eating soft food. It was quite a day yesterday but i'm glad it's all over.

Fire extinguishers made of gold

Today we had a trio visit our school to talk abt fire extinguishing. Apparently there are four kinds of fire and four kinds of fire extinguishers one for fires of A and B (which is not so famous), another for fires A, B and C, another for fires class D. She likened the 4 types of fire to a woman's bra size. She said it's similar. A for small fires (fires caused by paper, cloth etc), B for not so small fires, C for big fires (caused by electrical appliances) and D for enormous fires (ones that usually happens in the factories).

As i said earlier on there are 4 kinds of fire extinguishers. The first contains some kind of foam. It can put of A ,B and C fire therefore it is the most popular. Moreover it is cheap. Cost about 150 ringgit per tank. But once you spray this thing u lose whatever you spray it on (the foam stays on and NEVER comes off) and also stand a chance of scalding you skin or even going blind. The next one is Carbon Dioxide gas. This is as we know toxic if inhaled at its concentration, has to be sprayed following the wind direction and cannot be sprayed upwards. You would have to stay away from your house or office for more than 3 hours and only come in when the gas evaporates completely. The thrid one has the same reaction plus, all these three types of extinguishers only lasts to a max of 1 year WHETHER OR NOT U USE IT! bet u didn't know that. Once u use it cannot use anymore...even if u have 3/4 tank left.

So she then showed us the ultimates of ultimates... The $*&chemical name-too-long^!$%$ Extinguisher!!! It comes in a beautiful colour -GOLD! You can spray in whichever direction, use as many times as u want as long as the gas is still there, and lasts your WHOLE LIFE and you whole GREAT GRAND CHILD'S LIFE...really..the warranty is that long. Plus u can inhale this gas as much as u want. It smells of lemon after you spray! But i think it's too expensive for a aromatherapy la. It and costs RM790. For teachers, you get a rebate of RM 400! for today only.. wow ... and offer made hard to refuse. But i didn't buy.. hehe

So many bad things happening in so little time

PANGANDARAN, Indonesia, July 18 -- Six-foot tsunami waves triggered by an underwater earthquake swamped several resorts and village seafronts on the southern coast of Java island Monday, killing at least 262 people, officials reported. More than 160 were reported missing in the area, which apparently had no warning system. A wall of water crashed into this resort town, badly damaging modest hotels, restaurants and rows of beachfront homes. The waves left brick walls gaping and tore down thatched roofs. Evi Didi, 29, who works at the Annisa Hotel, recalled Tuesday sitting in its front yard with three friends preparing for an afternoon swim when the water approached. "When I spotted the water it was already huge. It was like a mountain of water, higher than the coconut tress. I ran to the second floor and went onto the roof," he said. From there, he continued, he saw the bodies of three boys floating on their backs. As surviving owners and employees returned Tuesday, they picked through heaps of wooden boards and palm fronds, smashed bicycles, shattered beer bottles, waterlogged clothes and capsized beds. Although this tsunami was far less vicious than one that Aceh in late 2004, the rolling water carried away cars, motorbikes and satellite dishes as much as a quarter mile from the beach. The magnitude 7.7. earthquake occurred about 3:15 p.m. Monday and was centered about 150 miles off the southern coast of Java, Indonesia's most populous island. It was followed within the hour by several aftershocks. Office workers in high-rise buildings as far away as Jakarta, the capital, located on Java's north coast, said they felt tremors. About 35,000 people were displaced, according to national Health Department's crisis center. Indonesians became acutely aware of the ocean's devastating power in December 2004 when the South Asia tsunami was triggered by a massive magnitude 9.0 undersea earthquake off Sumatra island. It left more than 170,000 dead or missing in Aceh province and flattened much of the provincial capital. Around the Indian Ocean basin, a total of at least 235,000 people died as a result of the tsunami. Water crashed with devastating force into coastlines in Thailand, Sri Lanka, India and East Africa. The Associated Press reported that Sumatra now has a tsunami alarm system to alert people to leave coastal areas, but Java's is not due to begin operation until 2007. So there was no organized warning to people along the approximately 110 miles of coastline when the waves struck on Monday. Witnesses in Pangandaran said that as the wave approached, people shouted "Tsunami! Tsunami!" and climbed trees or crowded into inland mosques. In some places, the water was reported to have traveled 900 feet inland. Power lines were washed out. Another witness to Monday's wave, Miswen, who lives 50 yards from the ocean in Pangandaran, told el-Shinta radio that he saw the seawater recede shortly after the earthquake. Within half an hour, he saw three huge swells racing toward the shore.

Someone told me this is the work of God towards the people who burnt down churches in Jakarta. I dunno why this is happening but i think the world we now live in is a "bad" one in many ways. I just pray that there would be no more bombing, war, tsunamis and earthquakes in the near future. There is only so much we humans can take...the consequences of our own actions. Just my little message of peace...

Why do people do last minute work?

I can never understand these people. Where is the thrill? Why do that when clearly the consequences are hell? I dunno but honestly when last minute decisions involve me i'll blow.. like now!

Of saving dogs and icky stuff

Just found out that my good friend is buying dogs out of pet shops to save them from starvation. How noble... I wish i could do something like that too. Once i saw this really pitiful dog outside my house. It was a very skinny, food deprived mini pincher. It had scars all over it's body and ticks all over too. It looked so...unwanted. I couldn't keep it for sure. My parents won't even let me keep a perfectly good dog let alone this one... Ah well, it's a dog's life..

What do you do when someone beside u does something really icky? you know something that would make u go "eeeewwww...that's disgusting" Here are a few things i have observe people around me do (purposely or naturally - which is worse than purposely if u know what i mean)

1) digging their noses...hardworkingly (this could be followed by and occasional rolling of the goo and flicking it)

2) scratching their armpits/under the legs/the joint where the upper torso and the thigh meets AND THEN smelling the "products"

3) digging their mouths and then smelling the "products" that come on the fingernail (this could be followed by putting it back in and swallowing it)

4) cleaning from under the finger/toe nails and then smelling the "products"

I dunno about you guys but i think actions like these should be confined to the washroom, toilet or bathroom and then alone because.......IT'S DISGUSTING!!! ack!

oh by the way, i got my job back...YAY!!!~

Good exercise

this morning i went to the Botanical gardens with fiance and a bunch of other school kids. Cross country day so they had to run 2 rounds round the gardens which i think comes up to 2 and a half km per round. I did 3. 2 to accompany my students and another to replace a colleague for awhile. she insists so because she told she walked a round already when i was escorting my group. Oh well, walk only ma...not like i can run also. The girls themselves also dun wanna run. Terpaksa i walk at the back of them...like a broom...sweeping the lazy ones.

Will be going to Prangin after this to support them for their YE (Young enterprize) projects. They'll be selling stuff that they made there so i'm going to observe their trading skills...and maybe buy a couple of things too :-)

Somos novios

Andrea:
Somos novios
Pues los dos sentimos mutuo amor profundo
Y con eso ya ganamos lo más grande
De este mundo

Nos amamos, nos besamos
Como novios
Nos deseamos y hasta a veces
Sin motivo, sin razón
Nos enojamos

Christina:
Somos novios
Mantenemos un cariño limpio y puro
Como todos
Procuramos el momento más oscuro

Both:
Para hablarnos
Para darnos el más dulce de los besos
Recordar de qué color son los cerezos
Sin hacer mas comentarios
Somos novios

Christina:
Ohh ooh ooh, ohh yeah

Both:
It's just impossible

Nos amamos, nos besamos
Como novios
Nos deseamos y hasta a veces
Sin motivo, sin razón

Andrea:
Nos enojamos

Christina:
Sin motivo, sin razón

Andrea:
Somos novios

Both:
Mantenemos un cariño

Andrea:
Limpio y puro

Christina:
Yeah

Andrea:
Como todos

Christina:
Como todos

Andrea:
Procuramos

Both:
El momento más oscuro

Christina:
Ohh yeah

Para hablarnos
Para darnos el más dulce de los besos
Recordar de qué color son los cerezos
Sin hacer mas comentarios

Andrea:
Somos novios

Christina:
Somos novios

Andrea:
Siempre novios

Christina:
Ooh

Both:
Somos novios

Wishful thinking

I talked to the HEM today over the phone and apparently the person taking over the science subject i was supposed to taech is a permanent and needless to say, if whe is permanent then she has advantage. Oh well... Now it depends on whether the English teacher i'm replacing will come back or not. Apparently she's away for cancer treatment. Ya...part of me hope something horrible doesn't happen to her. In this case, she will come back and teach and i will lose my job (i'm not prepared for that). Another part of me hopes she'll stay away for another few months so that i can at least summore cash (this is a bad hope....but at least it gives her some time to recuperate? hehe...sorry). Ya... it's all just wishful thinking. It all depends whether God wants me to keep this job.

I hope my applying for the RO post at WorldFish centre will come through though. Then at least I can do what i would really want to do... But then again what i would want to do might not be what God wants me to do. AAARRGGHH... does life has to be so confusing?

1 down

my first contract for teaching was over yesterday. i felt funny when the PK1 said a formal goodbye in front of all the teachers yesterday. I felt like i was either sacked or retiring. It wasn't a good feeling at all.

I have three contracts altogether but the funny thing is she said bye to me and it felt like i was never going back ...which makes me wonder ...am i going back or not? if not, why make me sign 3 contracts and make me believe i was working til march? why introduce a new teacher when what she will be teaching is in my second and third contract? This is weird... I did mention that i wasn't comfortable with teaching that subject but that didn't mean i won't try...

I don't want to be jobless again..it took me so long to look for a job and above all to feel like i'm doing something. God please don't let me be jobless again...i hate that feeling. Now i understand how it feels to be sacked, retrenched, useless...

Pray for me...

But he is not me

I would at least try to be better
but he is not me,

I would see the look on my mother's face
but he is not me,

The punctures and wounds on her hands would cause mine to ache
but he is not me,

I would try harder next time
but he is not me,

I would not let shouts in the house affect me
but he is not me,

I would not let anything in the world come in between me and my studies
but he is not me,

I would not go online so much with results like that
but he is not me,

I would listen to advise from my elders
but he is not me,

The pleas of my parents would somehow speak sense into me
but he is not me,

......................

I would give everything in the world to understand him
but I am not him.
