Family

Was just talking to one of my best friend just now. Her father is really sick with MSA. He used to be the country's javelin thrower and, for a few times, the best. In my heart he still is
Just a little on how i got to really know him. He is the father to my best friend (i met her on the first day of registeration into UNIMAS, we became roomates and then coursemates and then church mates). My best friend invites me over to her place for weekends. This is so i could easily follow her to church on Sundays. I really thank her for her hospitality because without her i would not have made it to church every week. Anyways, i met her father the for the first time in 2003. And now, 2 years later, he isn't getting any better. It saddens me sometimes just looking at him, the Lun Bawang uncle daddy that gave me a Lun Bawang name - Gituen (star). from shuffling his way through the house to now, being wheelchair bound.
But the thing that amazes me is the strength the whole family has and how they take care of each other. They make time for each other and pull the other up when the other is down. My best friend goes down to Kuching as often as she can to see her father. Sacrifice after sacrifice the family makes and they do not complain. Although it's plainly difficult and trying they never made it hard to their father/husband lest it should make him sad. The house environment it always cheerful and just like any other family. And uncle himself, wow, i have never seen anyone as optimistic as himself. He prays and reads devotional books everyday without fail. His faith in God is so great i could only wish i could be half as faithful as him.
Anyways, just wanna make a point that family is important and try to spend as much time as possible with them. Never take them for granted. They are the very and sometimes the only people you can run to in the times of need.
